We have many many tree frogs stuck on our front door and windows. One night I counted over 30 on our 3 porch windows! They're tricky by the front door, because occasionally they'll jump on us, and it's unnerving to have one land on your head unexpectedly. We're all trained to site them and quickly duck through the door, you won't find my children lingering, Olivia in particular hate their sticky touch. Coco on the other hand is the great frog hunter, and can spend hours staring at the front [...]

Back in Pensacola from my long trip home to France, just a week ago. Back in front of my computer starting today. This past week was dedicated to getting the kids ready for school, getting the house back in order (I'm not quite there yet , on all fronts, but great improvements have been accomplished).
14 years ago, as young bride, when I moved to Pensacola, FL, USA, I had fears that the great move would be difficult: going from my parent's nest to my husband's home, leaving my friends, givi [...]

Not really a bug life. Tomorrow I'm leaving with my children for my annual breath of fresh air, my return to my roots, my heaven on earth, France, precisely Aix-en-Provence. If you've never been, make it a goal in your life, have it on your list of places you must see at least once. I never tire of the landscape, the smell of lavender, the colorful markets, my native language... One typical sound in Provence is that of the loud "cigales" (in english: cicada or commonly known as crickets). I [...]

Yesterday was a big day in my son's life. Will got fitted for the first time with contact lenses. He's had bad eye sight for a couple of years, and isn't wearing his very cool glasses all that much. At school, he has them on occasionally to see the lesson on the black board, and then sometimes at home to watch TV, but otherwise never. It has handicapped him playing sports, in basketball he couldn't always make out his teammates faces, and he never really cared for tennis (probably because he [...]

Trying something new. I just found out about this cool blog, I ♥ faces, which holds every week a photo contest in 2 categories (children and adult). There is a new theme each time, and this week it's sepia tone.
I'll enter it with my favorite image of Taylor:
(I just love the circular blur created by the "garden wire sphere" I shoot this frame through)

This past week, the UPS man (bless him, he's a modern version of Santa dressed in a brown outfit), came to my door almost everyday. He's Coco favorite too, because he always has a gigantic milk bone for her, on top of my packages.
All the way from Italy, I received 3 enormous box, from Graphi Studio. I opened them in a hurry, heart pounding, soon had the floor covered in bubble wraps, and on my dinning room table sat 3 beautiful albums. These are the epitome of my efforts to present my image [...]

My little artist, Magalie strikes again. I love everything about this latest drawing, it's beautiful, full of bright colors (she explained her choice of orange for the astronaut suit would work best to compliment the other colors), well composed, just full of talent. Again, she touches my heart with her subject matter, her own interpretation of our classic french story "Le Petit Prince", a favorite of mine, by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. "The stars are more like the star fish in sponge bob squa [...]

I'm elated. I've had one of those moment when you try to organize your life. Bragging about balance would be a bit of a stretch here, but I've managed living somewhat of a "complete" life for 7 days.
I've been reading. I'm an avid reader. But, I take a novel like I do a box of chocolate: all in one sitting. Even though I'm a fast reader, this still means I'll spend a day or night lost in a book, and nothing gets done. In consequence, I haven't allowed myself to pick up a story in a wh [...]

They're all back in France! And I'm sad, it was such a treat to have my family with me. But then again, I will travel there pretty soon for my early trip home to Provence. Every year, we seem to extend our visit a little longer, this time it will be a generous 6 weeks.
For today, I wanted to share some pictures of my niece, Rose, who will turn 11 in just a month. She has a natural grace about her, and has been taking dance lessons all her life. She is very talented, and is attending one of [...]

I've always enjoyed a beautiful "jardin", the women in my family all have a "green thumb". My aunt, who lives in England has created the most beautiful garden. Words can't do justice to her little paradise on earth. People from all over the world come in busses to visit this slice of heaven, she has the most amazing and rare species of roses. All the women in my family can speak to the flowers, and they listen. Not me, or at least not yet. Some areas of my back yard (it hasn't earned the n [...]

Happy Easter everyone!!
I have been very fortunate this past week with my family visiting from France. I love it when they are in town. My sister, Sylvie and my niece, Rose are staying with us, while my parents have rented a beautiful home on the Gulf. The children were out of school and were able to spend plenty of time with their cousin.
"April showers" just isn't a myth, we are definitely in the rainy season, it has been pouring! Saturday was a welcome brake and we enjoyed the beach all [...]

Oh, how I love to come across these little gems of childhood wisdom. Magalie is always drawing, in fact all 3 of my children are always sneaking into my computer room to steal some of my printing paper, to draw. Yesterday, several new drawings were left on the kitchen table, and this morning I found this one along with an elaborate map of a fantasy world (Tëradorá, a new story Will is working on), and a "pizza" newspaper hat (an Olivia creation). All treasures, but this one especially. Meg i [...]
