- What a wide range of color line up for Zuri's session! Don't be afraid to choose colors for your newborn session, it always turns out beautiful. When I started photographing newborns some 16 years ago, I didn't have much experience and I stuck to the most simple set ups. I only had black as a backdrop option and most of my pictures were edited in B&W because it is very forgiving (think blotchy newborn skin, redness...) Also, B&W has always been considered "classic" so it gave the pictures a t [...]

- I often tell parents their baby was the perfect model, and I always mean it. Truthfully I'm determined to get all the poses in my workflow for each baby that comes into my studio. Some take a little while to fall asleep and so I'll focus first on the awake pictures, but eventually they all get into a good slumber and that's when the magic happens. Little Sevyn started her session awake, but then was so sleepy I couldn't even get her eyes to open for her "mugshots". All the cajoling in the wo [...]

- I first met Ashley 6 years ago when I photographed "Adria", then a couple years later, "Gavin". Ashley is telling me little Jaina is the caboose of their family, though they are exploring adoption because they still have a lot of love to spread. I will always remember our first encounter (it's a fascinating story, click on the highlighted word "Adria" above to take you there, and then on "Gavin"). This very special job of mine allows me to meet new people and it is such an honor to continue [...]

- It was only barely a year ago that I photographed "Lena" Hayes older sister! She was such a doll and aced her first modeling gig with me. Her sweet little brother did just as well, and I can't wait to have them both in for sibling pictures. Sometimes we do it in 2 separate sessions, so we can fully focus on baby before we bring in a toddler. This family loves fishing, the water and we were able to find some beautiful digital backgrounds to incorporate into Hayes' session.

- Just 10 years ago a very cool "Pilates studio" opened its doors downtown, it may very well have been the first in the area. It is absolutely amazing, with 3 large "classrooms" each equipped with the top gear in the industry. There's even a couple of gyrotonic expension systems, seriously if you haven't tried it yet, it's really worth it! The many instructors are all excellent and you will leave refreshed, after an hour of meaningful mind-body connection. There's also a collection of gear tha [...]

- I always want to start my blog posts with "I had such a fun time with this session...", it's because I really enjoy the time spent with my clients. I love talking to "fresh parents", it's just such a special time in their lives, so much has happened recently for them, and the arrival of the new precious life completely rocks their world as they knew it before! When it's repeat client like this sweet family, it's all the more special, I feel like catching up with old friends and I'm thrilled to [...]

- What a fun session this was! We don't photograph twins as often as "single" babies, but each time I notice how organize the parents are. My secret wish is to be better organized and prepared... every once in a while I catch myself thinking that perhaps if I had had twins, I, too would have had to become a super organized mom. I really believe it's a skill you must develop in a pinch or life becomes really tricky with a double bundle at once. However, I think Elizabeth was made for the challe [...]

- As Pia turned 3 weeks, Christine and I did her newborn session in my studio. Her mom, "PV Cobia" is a very talented local wedding photographer, who also travels for destination weddings and produces the most beautiful imagery! Take a minute to check her blog and social media, you're sure to enjoy those dreamy weddings and locations.
Little Pia settled beautifully into all the sweet little newborn poses and at the end of the session, her big bro, Jack came with his dad. Pevee had warned me ab [...]

- You know how you get all those security questions to all those different websites when you have to put in your password? Your mother's maiden name? Your first pet's name? and this one: "What's your dream job?" I get so tickled when I get to answer that one with my real job: PHOTOGRAPHER! Because for real: how cool is it to take pictures of fresh newborns? Not just that, but I love to meet new families at this stage of their lives, my studio is just oozing with good vibes from all the love e [...]

- It is such an honor each time I get repeat clients. 3 years ago, I first met Lauryn and Ryan when I photographed their twins, "Max & Dax". It was so fun to see the boys so grown up and doting on their baby sister.

- When Sophia's mom told me she loved butterflies at her consultation visit, I knew I would have some options that she would love! She chose 2 butterflies and a lovely sunflower. It was such a delight to meet this beautiful family and witness all the love they have for their sweet little girl.
