The Q Crew
A fun family, willing to brave the fierce ants of Fort Pickens with me for some pictures. The ants weren’t the only creatures hanging around, we saw severals (3) friendly (by that I mean, they weren’t the least bit frightened by our presence) mice. It was also nesting season in our National Park, and a variety of birds were circling the skies. After the Fort’s relentless ants, the children asked if we could stop by the beach. I hadn’t been since the whole BP disaster, have been avoiding news reports, and wasn’t sure what to expect. I can only report what our naked eyes could see: our world famous beautiful white sand beaches, as beautiful as ever, no tar balls in sight. As everyone on the Gulf Coast, I’m devastated and appalled by the horrid negligence of the big money making gas company. It is clear to all that the wild life is and will be terribly affected by the spill. Sadly, local businesses are also already suffering from the spotlight of the media. It’s a shame we can’t be delivered honest news, instead it seems to be a fight for the most sensational story, at the expense of our communities. Our Gulf Coast communities, who have been repeatedly hit by ravaging hurricanes (Ivan, Katrina, Dennis..), who proudly pick up and rebuild, who like the rest of the world try to overcome the “bad economy”, are now hit as badly by the spill as by sensational reporting! Seriously, don’t abandon us now, we live off tourism.
Well, I certainly got carried away and lost track of introducing this nice family. Theresa came with her 4 children and her niece.

Carson and Cecelia have the best sibling relationship I’ve ever witnessed,

Known as the Q crew (from left to right), Cecilia, Jake, Matthew and Carson.

And here is Cooper, their cousin, but they’re all so close, she may as well be a sister (I love tight families),

The best group jump picture ever: everyone getting some air (way to go Carson!) and all faces are clear of arms,

The Baehrs
Before I move on to a new session, I had to post of few of this wonderful family together. Now, it’s obvious to all, the good looks run in the gene pool.

Happy Mother’s Day
Happy mother’s day to all, even if I’m a little late.
Introducing today a very well “rounded” family. By rounded, I mean a lovely family, with a rich life. With my french upbringing, I’ve always been impressed with the way Americans raise their children. We, in France, have our children spend their childhood in school, classes last all day, and there isn’t much time left for extra scholar activities. In the US, early school release leaves afternoons free to practice sports, music… Americans are raised “complete”, our (I mean our, in the US) colleges and degrees are sought after all over the world, and children are developed in sports, they’ve had a chance to try out different ones, and find a favorite. It makes for well rounded people. Christine and Scott embody the american dream family, aside from all being insanely beautiful, they are accomplished in all field. Their children, Jacob (11 years old), and Gwyneth (6 years old) have already been exposed to many different team sports, individual sports and are both learning to play the guitar. Early in their life they are taught the discipline of daily practicing, to be rewarded I’m sure, with excellence. I can only imagine a bright future for this handsome boy and gorgeous little girl, armed with such precious values, and skills. Gwyneth was an angel to photograph, comfortable in front of the lens, so fun to work with and clearly the camera loves her! She has just amazing features, her generous (and I mean generous) gorgeous hair alone could win her the front page of any fashion magazine.

Estelle
Little Miss Estelle is 2 years old! I started photographing her in her mommy’s belly. I can’t believe she’s so grown up. A very busy little girl, so interested in life, there is no time to sit down, except maybe for a quick tea party. It was a pleasure to watch her in action, and a bit of a challenge to keep up with her. These images celebrate her gleeful personality, and her inquisitive mind. I hope to continue watching her grow into a beautiful girl.

Heidi
She bears the name of one of my all time favorite novel character. She is sweet, sweet , sweet, full of delicious dimples, with perfect baby skin, beautiful red hair, gorgeous blue eyes… so adorable.

I love all the uncensored expressions infants have, the emotions are so genuine, there is no self consciousness in the way. I really don’t like waiting for the angry/crying face, but it’s still one (I believe) that needs to be recorded.

She’s ready to go places,

She’s off…

Time for a nap,

An other…. beautiful family…
We are now in France. Paris was all white, and when we drove home from the Marseille airport, snow was falling steadily. We woke up to a delightful scenery, overnight enough snow had collected to make a thin white blanket everywhere around us. My parents’ house is mildly decorated by american standards, but is still in a very festive mood with the huge family gathering we are having. It’s warm inside by the fireplace (the real thing, wood burning giving a true winter smell and feel). It’s …heaven. I will try to post some pictures of our outings. While I would be content rooting all day in the house enjoying my family (we can talk for hours), Henry much prefers taking day trips, with some cultural flavor. More about that soon. In the mean time, I wanted to share some images from an awesome family. The weather wasn’t much cooperating on our first try, but the second time around, it was ideal.

Beth Ann,

Walker and Peyton,

Matthew,

Some sibling love,

Walker has the good looks. Seriously, everyone in this family does, they’re all stunning. I predict lots of worries for the parents when these gorgeous children all reach their teens…

Rocky and Brett, a really cool team. Parenthood to 4 kids definitely requires a great deal of involvement from the parents. I’ve heard Rocky describe herself as a taxi driver to 4 busy children. Her commitment is paying off, they are all 4 very accomplish in all domains, sports and academics alike.

Christmas is coming soon…
It’s a busy time of the year, with decorations galore, the roads crowded with shoppers on a mission. Sitting in front of my computer, I’m editing pictures of beautiful families getting their yearly portraits for Christmas cards. Christmas used to be one of my favorite holidays in France, because it was always a huge family gathering. It has taken a whole new dimension in the US, the decorations and the outdoors lights are spectacular here, but I’ve missed my family and french traditions. This year will be the first for me to go back home (happy happy Arielle!!!) since I’ve been engaged (15 years ago on Christmas eve). Henry has been teasing the kids that our french tree will be more like a Charlie Brown branch, but they will love the 13 deserts, the house filled for 2 weeks with 30 relatives (my mother is super women without the flashy suit), maybe some snow… Oh, I just can’t wait! It’s been forever that I’ve had a Christmas in Aix-en-Provence, I’m pretty sure I was in high school last time. This holiday season will be very special indeed, just like my childhood favorite memories. In the mean time one lovely local family,

David, with his radiant smile. Flora and Yana,

I love Anthony’s spider man suit, it is totally him, and the colors are stunning on the canvas I had made of this image

Michael & Maggie
Just as the Pensacola weather was finally deciding to take a turn, and like the rest of the world join the fall season, I photographed this pair. I moved to the US 15 years ago, 7 years after my arrival I barely had any friends, Henry suggested joining a tennis team, it was a brilliant idea. I met a wide group of lovely and fun ladies and now although I miss the sport, thanks to my photography I get to meet still many new fantastic people. Karla and her 2 sweet youngsters were just delightful, and we did have a great time taking pictures, dressing up little Miss Maggie, serving tea to her many American dolls, catching ball… I’m so glad we schedule this session a couple of weeks ago, because now Maggie is loosing her 2 bottom teeth, with 2 big ones coming out. That little girl’s look with the perfect baby teeth smile is now a passed stage of her life. Children change so fast, we, as parents are so caught up in the whirlwind of our daily life, that sometimes we realize too late how they have already stepped into a new phase. Only pictures and videos will let us relive those cherish moments. I’m a little behind schedule with this post, because I was out of town on a family trip to New York for a week. Feeling a bit guilty for the delay, I’ve got a few more than usual pictures, and they were so cute, it was hard to choose…

The many expressions of a little girl,

Karla, Thank you so much to all 3 of you for your patience, a great afternoon, and trusting me to photograph your children, they were so sweet and charming!
9 years old!
Magalie is 9, and it seems that just yesterday she was a newborn in my arms. We had some of her friends over to celebrate her last single digit birthday. It was the first day of cooler weather here in Pensacola. The kids called it “freezing”, a bit of an exaggeration… The girls went outside, tried out Meg’s new jump rope, all decked out for a winter day, had a glorious time in this delightful temperature, and I pulled my camera out of the bag.
Mimi, Meg, Lizzy, and Frannie

Vive l’automne! We don’t have much of the fall leaves in the beautiful red, orange and yellow hues, but it’s still fun to toss what we have in the air,

After a few minutes of running around, the initial “freezing cold” day wore off. I love their “bad-girls-on-scooter” look!

Beautiful family
Lucy’s family is beautiful inside and out, they all gave me the most genuine smiles, wholeheartedly. There was no coercing, I could have photograph them forever, if it hadn’t been for the fierce mosquitoes that day on the west side of town… As a mom, I so much loved watching their family dynamics, the conviviality between them. I’m also envious of Lucy’s gentle temper (I’m cursed with the mediterranean quick temper).

Lovely Kailey,

Little Zach, so so cute!!!

And handsome Hunter, so easy going

The wonderful parents, Lucy and Bruce behind these great kids

Very glad to read your report, Arielle, as I cannot watch the news because I cry about the beautiful Gulf of Mexico I grew up on. We will be visiting in July/August and hope to go to the beach and do some fishing.
As to the subjects of this photography, what a beautiful family! So much happiness!
They are a fabulous family! To have watched these kids grow up alongside my friend Theresa has been a wonderful thing. John “Q” will absolutely love this! Absolutely gorgeous photos!
These are such wonderful pictures - so playful and sweet! What a beautiful family!
